Azelaic acid
A gentle active, in 10% and 20%, for reactive skin.
Azelaic acid is a naturally occurring dicarboxylic acid, used in dermatology for acne, rosacea and pigmentation marks. It helps normalise cell renewal, limits bacterial growth and gradually fades the marks left by blemishes.
Two strengths are available as a cream: 10% (15 g tube), the gentle version for sensitive skin and daily use, and 20% (20 g tube), the strength used in dermatology against established blemishes and redness. Temporary tingling is common in the first days.
Well tolerated, azelaic acid combines easily with a retinoid routine, alternating. It remains for external use: avoid the eyes and mucous membranes, and seek advice during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
